New York Fashion Week's spring/summer 2027 season has concluded with 63 runway shows offering ample material for trend analysis. Among the most anticipated moments was Diane von Furstenberg's return under new Artistic Director Henry Zankov, joining established names including Khaite, Kallmeyer, Tory Burch, Calvin Klein Collection, Altuzarra, Proenza Schouler, and Ralph Lauren.
The Standout Trends
**Cobalt blue** emerged as the definitive color of the season. Often called Yves Klein blue, the shade appeared across numerous collections including Kallmeyer, TWP, Ralph Lauren, Diotima, and Calvin Klein Collection. While some designers used it sparingly as an accent, many built entire looks around the vivid hue.
**Full skirts** signaled a shift away from the column silhouettes that have dominated recent seasons. Primarily in midi length, voluminous skirts appeared in varied fabrics and prints—even at Khaite, a label typically associated with streamlined shapes.
**Liquid satin** replaced taffeta as the fabric of choice for 2027. Where taffeta offered structure in 2026, this draping material moves with the body. Ralph Lauren, Sandy Liang, Cult Gaia, and DVF all featured the textile.
**Corsets** returned in romantic, elegant iterations rather than lingerie-inspired styles. Altuzarra, Khaite, and Wiederhoeft showed versions with peplum trim, appliqués, mixed fabrics, and off-the-shoulder layering.
**Car coats** persisted as a spring staple but departed from neutral territory. Tory Burch, Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein Collection presented the classic outerwear in bright colors, pastels, and prints.
**Daytime sequins** offered a fresh styling approach. Cult Gaia paired sequins with basics like tanks and Bermuda shorts, while Zankov incorporated subtle sequined scarf belts.
**Jacquard** appeared in accessible, modern silhouettes rather than traditional formalwear. Proenza Schouler, Ralph Lauren, and Calvin Klein Collection used the ornate fabric for square-neck midi dresses and similar contemporary shapes.
**Architectural ruffles** replaced soft, romantic versions with structured, peplum-like constructions at Carolina Herrera, Khaite, and Kallmeyer.
